Geronimo Camp good to know

Please let John Asher know if you can drive up on the 3rd or pick up scouts on the 10th.
Troop 441 is Session I this year from Saturday, June 3rd - Saturday, June 10th. We will meet at the Kiva Parking lot for those who need rides. Check in time at Geronimo begins at 1:00pm. We will return to the Kiva parking lot on Saturday 6/10, time TBD.

"What to Bring 2017" - Suggested and required items to bring. Self explanatory - if you have questions on what to bring, ask any scout who has been to Geronimo or contact John Asher. MOST IMPORTANT IS A FULL CLASS A UNIFORM...MANY SCOUTS FORGET...THEY NEED THIS!!! Geronimo Camp Map - Troop 441 will be in Campsite #4 - you can kind of pay attention when choosing merit badges and times so the kids aren't running too much between classes. Merit Badges - Geronimo 2017 - THIS IS WHY WE GO TO CAMP...MERIT BADGES. Merit badges are a wonderful part of the Boy Scouts because they each give a good amount of depth into many different topics (137 merit badges currently) that kids can learn about and see if they like that topic for later on in life. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRE-REQUISITES AND THE DIFFICULTY OF EACH MERIT BADGE. IF YOUR CHILD DOES NOT COMPLETE ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS AT CAMP, THEY RECEIVE A "PARTIAL"...WE DON'T WANT PARTIALS!!!! Ask other scouts or John Asher (42 merit badges as a scout) about the merit badges if you have questions. I recommend having the kids take ONE Eagle Scout requirement merit badge and 2 to 3 other "FUN" ones...this makes getting EAGLE SCOUT much more achievable. The list states if the merit badge is hard. for example, Horsemanship, Climbing, Rowing, Archery, and Rifle are very hard first year merit badges. Also, if your child is planning to go to Emeral Bay in the future, this is the best spot to get a lot of the water merit badges - not much a of a lake at Geronimo! AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE PRE-REQUISITES OUT OF THE WAY PRIOR TO CAMP. |
